Provider & Client Relations Liaison | Licensed Professional Counselor - In Training (LPC-IT) | RYT-200

The mind is a powerful tool. It allows us to think, plan, and solve problems. It can also lead us to overthink, ruminate, and fixate on things outside of our control. When the power of the mind takes over, we become disconnected: with ourselves, with others, and with the present moment. We can address some of this disconnection by creating change in our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. However, the mind is only one aspect of our holistic self as there are deeply rooted connections that exist between our mind and our body. Each of our bodies store “data” on a cellular level: memories, experiences, and emotions. The mind may seem in charge, but the body is responding to the same stimuli and beyond. Since our bodies act as a storage container, we hold onto data from our past that our mind can not even put into words. This means if we truly want to reconnect with our present experiences, we must account for the mind as well as the body.

Jaycie utilizes an integrative approach informed by person-centered and somatic therapies that will address your mind and your body. Person-centered therapy supports your full potential, while somatic therapies bridge the mind-body connection. Adjunct supports offered in session include yoga, aerial yoga, meditation, tapping, breath techniques, and affirmations. All of these modalities take place in the present moment with your present experiences. Jaycie is adept at creating a safe, affirmative space where others can freely explore their identities, areas of concern, the mind-body connection, and lived experiences. This allows us to completely reconnect with ourselves, with others, and with the present moment.

Jaycie holds a Master’s of Science in Education from UW-Oshkosh and a Bachelor of Science in psychology from UW-River Falls. As a Licensed Professional Counselor - In Training (LPC-IT), she is currently being supervised by Dr. Carey Sorenson, PhD, RYT-200 and Carissa Alt-Frankard, LPC as she works to fulfill Wisconsin requirements for full licensure. Jaycie works alongside youth and adults ages 5-35+. She has training on various therapeutic techniques, adjunct supports, assessments, and diagnostic skills to help support the population she serves. Jaycie has experience with individual therapy, school-based therapy, group therapy, college counseling, family support, and telehealth services. Jaycie joined the administrative side of Be. with her role as the Provider & Client Relations Liaison (PCRL). As the PCRL, she serves as the main point of communication between Be. collective providers, clients, and the Executive Clinical Director. She additionally holds the National Certified Counselor (NCC) credential from the National Board for Certified Counselors. She was awarded the NCC by graduating from a CACREP-accredited program, which meets standards set by the counseling profession, and successful completion of the National Counselor Exam.

To further her professional development, Jaycie completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training and aerial yoga training which certifies her as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) and an Aerial Yoga Teacher (Level 1). Both of these processes provide us the opportunity to release stored body data through the use of movement, meditation, breath, and body awareness. We can learn invaluable information about ourselves simply by noticing how we show up in a yoga pose.

A direct quote that perfectly summarizes Jaycie’s message is from The Body Keeps the Score, “Our sense of ourselves is anchored in a vital connection with our bodies. Simply noticing what you feel fosters emotional regulation, and it helps you to stop trying to ignore what is going on inside you. [...] Once you start approaching your body with curiosity rather than with fear, everything shifts.” (Bessel van der Kolk, M.D.).

When it comes to defining her “Be.” Jaycie crafted the statement, “Be. here, Be. curious”. This statement is a reminder of the power that comes from the present moment and remaining curious about our experiences. It is reflective of van der Kolk’s message that everything within us shifts when we simply notice our present experiences with a gentle, non-judgmental curiosity. Jaycie is eager to support you as you discover and define your own Be.
