Founder, Licensed Psychologist, RYT-200
I am a woman who over the course of the last 8 years has redefined her struggles as opportunities of betterment. My faith has allowed me to prosper in the face of trauma and to use my experiences and training to better understand and help those in need. One of the biggest needs I have identified is the lack of access to diverse treatments in a unified environment that address the person as a whole. The bible verse that has guided my journey, given me hope when I had none, and allowed me to take another step forward when I just wanted to run away is Psalm 46:10 ‘Be still and know’. Over the last many years, I shortened the verse to a singular word, Be. Be became my mantra, a way of life, a word that reminded me that I could stand still in the storm, and that I would always BE alright if I believed in myself, my journey, and my faith. And so when it came time to create a place of safety, understanding, solace, and holistic care for individuals in need, it seemed fitting to call that place Be.
I believe we all hold the keys to our own healing, but we need the right environment for them to be revealed. Be. // A Center for Holistic Mental Health and Healing, LLC is that environment.
As a psychologist at Be. // Child and Adolescent Mental Health, LLC giving voice to my clients’ unique needs and consulting with diverse disciplines to provide optimal and appropriate care for each client is always my main priority. My training has required me to respond to acute and chronic care issues with diverse populations suffering from multidimensional mental health issues. My varied exposure illuminated the necessity for consideration and implementation of healthcare modalities that not only complement, but also at times may be more appropriate than conventional methods of treatment. Over the past 10 years it has been my dream to provide each client with integrative individualized care that best meets his or her unique needs.
Academically, I completed my Masters in School Counseling in 2008 and my Doctorate in Counseling Psychology in 2013, both from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. I completed my yoga teacher training and became a register yoga instructor (RYT – 200) in 2013. I obtained my licensure as a psychologist in the state of Wisconsin in 2016. I completed my internship and postdoctoral psychology residency at Winnebago Mental Health Institute in 2015, an inpatient hospital in Oshkosh, WI. As a psychologist in Wisconsin and registered yoga instructor I offer yoga therapy as a component of my psychology practice. This approach has allowed me to provide holistic, trauma sensitive, individualized care to youth and adult populations.
Personally, as a trauma survivor my journey into, through, and out of trauma became an amazing teacher. It helped me gain firsthand experience with the myriad of issues that can arise from trauma exposure leading me to seek out numerous treatment approaches that would facilitate the healing and growth process. My takeaway from my own journey was the realization that all healing processes are unique and that trauma is insidious. It resonates in many ways, requiring diverse treatments to be available to help the client find their own way through and out. Healthcare is not a one-size fits all model, and growth and healing are best achieved by implementing approaches of care that are specific to the individual needs of each client.
My professional knowledge matched with personal experience prompted me to open a center where individuals of all ages can not only be heard and feel safe, but can obtain a number of services that will help them heal and grow in their own way, in their own time.
